I'm looking for a good "last resort" handgun. I considered a derringer for a while, but I was poking around at .22 rifles and thought it might be a fun project to take a very inexpensive .22 rifle, shorten the barrel, and cut down the stock to a pistol size. I know that shortening a shotgun barrel is illegal, but they make many handguns in .22, and since it's such a small caliber... Is there any way to legally cut down a rifle in such a way?
This isn't a debate on the uses of a .22 caliber firearm. If a .22 COMPLETELY NEEDS 16" to stabilize, then there's an awful lot of useless handguns out there in said caliber. My question is about legality and safety.
Oh, AI, "a bit of growing up?" It was a legitimate question that merited a legitimate answer. There's no need for senseless, rude, obnoxious comments. Who really needs to grow up in this situation?

Imagine, if you will, a pistol that fires shotgun shells. Obviously it would have a limited ammo capacity, possibly an over-under break top derringer-type configuration, or at maximum a large revolver cylinder. What advantages/disadvantages would this weapon have vis-a-vis conventional handguns, conventional shotguns, and what combat situations/sports would this concept be appropriate for?

that is just some of the music I like
people say I am quiet, weird, awkward some what funny guy but I am not really the most happy guy and to be honest not much of these bands are from this decade
ok for some people you think i am a punk from some of the bands but I don't know how Classic Rock makes you a Punk and I don't know if you can see some the rappers/rap groups on this list

I recently acquired 2 pistols and I am unsure as to their value. One is a Hi-Standard Derringer DM101. Blued, in good condition in .22 mag.

The other is a Para-Ordnance C7.45 LDA Stainless. What are their values?

I'm looking into start carry a compact pistol on me at most times, and I'm pretty active, I run, jump, move around a lot. My built is thin/medium and I'm 160 pounds and 6'4 tall. I need something small, I have a Western Derringer in .357 made in Germany the whole gun is smaller than the size of my hand, I'm wondering if this is a good choice to use for concealing. If not I'm wondering if this is a good choice, like I said I need something small because I don't wear loose or baggy clothes, normally tight or normal fitting, but I do wear boot cut jeans if this would help for a ankle holster. My father has use his GLOCK 27 for concealment but he wears work jackets and thicker clothes so this won't work for me. What do you think I should go with?
I'm not picky in the caliber for the gun, but I'm not a fan of the 9mm, I'm more leaning towards a 40S&W or a .45ACP but I think that they normally are too big for what I need, so would a .357 or 38 be better for this?

I am thinking of getting a Cobra .22 magnum derringer to carry with me when i travel as a protection gun. I have chose the gun because it is small and looks easy to handle. I am a 21 year old woman and have shot pistols before. I just dont want to own anything for myself that has a harsh recoil. I want something i will enjoy shooting. Any advice on this particular gun would be greatly appreciated.

I know that such guns are, at best, a third-choice defensive weapon. Still, there are times when you just HAVE to leave the pistol-gripped Mossberg in the car, and drawing your Browning Hi-Power from the small of your back may not be an option.
Also, in some old western movies, people are depicted as having derringers tucked up inside their shirtsleeves. Can you recommend anybody who makes the necessary equipment for this?
This is what I like to see, plenty of suggestions. Let's see what else pops up.

I own 1 Shotgun, a 12 Ga. pump, 3 Rifles, A 22 automatic, a 303 British bolt action,and a 30-30 lever action, 3 handguns, a 9mm Hypower pistol, a 32 H&R revolver and a 22 cal derringer. I really love these guys and have had them for years. Am I OK or a Nut?

I would like to know what the PSF stands for. The pistol has four barrels and a firing pin that rotates in the hammer. Thank you.

I have already searched on google and found out a thing or two about this pistol, but i can't find a picture to match. I bought this gun at an elderly man's garage sale. It came with a ramrod and muskets but doesn't have any flint. on the top of the barrel it says Derringer Philadelphia (not philadel) also says black powder only including a Serial#. I was wondering what year these were made and the value of the pistol

I have had the gun about 35 years and it was very old and in pieces in a cigar box when i got it. it has no markings other than the stamped # 126 under the area where the barrels break over for loading. It has progressive triggers and dual hammers.

I mean everything, not only semi autos here, derringers, single shot pocket pistols, everything.
I remember a bit ago, like 5-6 years ago, I looked in a gun buyers guide in the special category of handguns and seeing a small single shot break open handgun, capable of fitting in the palm of a person's hand, the barrel was tiny, probably the length of the cartridge. it had a square shape when looking at it from the side, and it had a trigger guard just big enough to fit you index finger in, also the handgrip was black and the barrel had a stainless steel look to it.
I'd like to hear about any other guns that fit into this category.
I'd like to add that it didn't have a hammer either, it looked like a toy.
sorry, not the right gun, this gun was tiny and it was break open, not with a screw in barrel, i've already looked at this gun before, it's not the right gun, it's a modern gun, not from the 40-50's

Ok this might be a little off the wall but I am sure I am not the only one to ever dream this up. *Disclaimer* I do not plan on breaking any laws or doing anything illegal. I just had a thought.
I've been flying RC airplanes since I was like 14 and I was thinking about how cool it would be to put a micro camera hooked up to a laptop and a very small lightweight pistol i.e. .22 Derringer in the plane. There's no real practical use for this maybe small game hunting?? I suspect you'd have to "sight in" the pistol to the laptop camera and accuracy would probably be close to nil.
SO off to my question. Is this legal? Any thoughts of you own on this?
I am already very aware of the battle warships.
My idea would be nothing like leaving a loaded weapon in the woods.
And yes as with my thinking I would have total control of the firing/aiming in this senario.

It is a small, pull to cock model a little larger than a derringer with a rotating barrel holding 5 shots. It looks to be plated (probably nickel) and has the name "TYCOON N22" stamped on the top. It has wooden handles and no trigger guard. Anybody have any thoughts about this?
Someone asked me to post a picture. I can't see any way to do that, but if you will send me your email address, I'll send you two pictures I have of it.

It doesn't matter to me how nice or scathing your opinion may be, I just want your opinion.

I have a small .32ACP derringer and just thought what a great high capacity round this would be for a semi-auto pistol for target shooting. Just think...you could probalby get 25 - 30 rounds in a full size handgun. Does any one make one? Or is their a manuafacturer that makes a high capacity clip for one.

The chrome pistol shows "Illiot's patent Dec 12th 1865". The two barrels are "over and under".

I feel stupid for leaving quiet riot and alice in chains, but twisted sister only had one big hit so they weren't on here. Dang I feel stupid! Oh well... and also, Pantera is on there.
Oh man! I coulda sworn I put REM on here! Dang! I'll revise this thing, though.

I'm the sound designer for a production of Assassins by Steven Sondheim. In the show are the 9 different guns that were used to attempt or successfully assassinate a president.

The guns are as follows:
- .44 caliber Derringer (John Wilkes Booth)
- Mannlicher-Carcano bolt action rifle (Lee Harvey Oswald)
- .32 caliber Iver-Johnson "Safety Automatic" hammerless revolver (Leon Czolgosz)
- .22 caliber Rohm RG-14 revolver (John Warnock Hinckley Jr.)
- .44 Webley British Bulldog revolver (Charles Julius Guiteau)
- .32 caliber Smith & Wesson hammerless pistol, 5 shot (Giuseppe Zangara)
- .22 snube nose caliber revolver, don't know the manufacturer (Samuel Byck)
- .45 Colt semi-automatic, this one i can get fairly easy (Lynette Alice "Squeaky" Fromme)
- .38 caliber revolver Smith & Wesson, 5 shot nickle plated with 4" in. barrel (Sara Jane Moore)

Now i know i most likely will not be able to get that specific with the SFX, but any help to get close is appreciated.

I have an FIE D38 .38 Cal. Derringer, in which the lower barrel will not detonate the round. I have replaced the hammer selector to no avail. Now, this may have been a mistake but, but I switched the firing pins to see what would happen. Still the lower barrel would not detonate, I know these are not great pistols but when I bought it, it did work fine. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

“How can I make my airsoft more powerful for bear hunting?”

“Is there a .600 nitro express derringer?”

“Can I find a place to attack deer with a knife?”

“Where can I find a 578-70 HH magnum pistol?”

The cylinder is stuck on my Glock, help?

Can I hammer on bullets and live rounds on concrete?

Will guns go off by themselves?

How can I kill rabbits with sharp sticks?

Why does Kixx cereal look like rabbit dung? And they have a rabbit on the box?

“I cant get the magazine to go into my revolver?”

" Can it hurt much to be shot?"
They are ridiculous, just like so many others similar to them that we get here all the time.
So no bells rang at all for you Josh T? Ok.
I am sorry I left out deagle affixation and the sniper syndrome. But do we really have to go over that again too!? lol
Also no; I’m not that new I am more of a lurker that likes to laugh his azz off at dumb fvks, instead of actually asking or answering.

Great answers!

I bought this kit for a little twister derringer and i put it together all wrong, mostly do to the kits low grade! The trigger is stuck and completely useless, the spring loaded latch the keeps the barrals from rotating doesn't even have a spring! The hammer has to be drawn and released manaly, which totaly destroys anything begining to resemble auccuracy, and when you do that theres a 50% chance the cap on one barel will fire, and on the other barrel the caps will NEVER fire! I only live fired it once, in which i used a .35 roundball and paper towel wadding. With about a grain of fffg, the ball didn't even leave a visible mark on a hardboard, indeed even the soft lead ball didn't even have a mark! I think since the only nipple that does fire is smashed and deformed not enough spark is getting in, and probably just blowing the powder out without igniting it!
My question is what could i use it for, since it seems fairly useless!
(I attempted to put it in a display, but its sheap plast
Auctually it wouldn't make a bad paper weight or decoration, It has a cool form and design, it's just virtually non-functional!

I'm not sure on this one. The lighter doesn't say anything that it is in fact a lighter and it looks EXACTLY like a derringer. Can't I only get arrested for implying it is a weapon?
Doesn't develop till 22 huh, well I'm almost 23 so.......u can complete that sentence. It's a legitimate question. I've lived in Texas almost all my life and know damn sure not to use it in a threatening way or to use your car horn unless you have a gun on you. I've had guns shot at me back when I WAS a dumb teenager... I need to stop using this forum... major condescending _________s sometimes. But thanks for the answers except the dude with that comment about me being a teenager.
Most of you are generalizing Texas also and its pretty prejudice.
I have yet to meet a gun happy redneck that will shoot you for simply HAVING a gun. He would probably compare his with you if he saw it. You northern people got it all wrong and no I don't have an accent, racists.

ok, my uncle is really cool, (in my eyes anyway) he does a lot for me, he baught me a compound bow and an acoustic guitar this year, he helps me a lot, and i want to get him somthing nice, he likes guns, and he collects them, i was looking at somthing that he always talks about, an old derringer pistol, its 150 bucks, and it would be a perfect gift for him, but my parents think its too much money, what can i do? i cant find anything else to get him. Help!

Below is a list of some of the artists/bands on my iTunes so that you can have an idea of what I like. As you can tell, my taste is very diverse. But please keep in mind when making suggestions that I have thousands upon thousands of CDs and albums and that these artists are just a few compared to the rest...thanks!

I'm getting my Concealed Carry Permit and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a nice pistol?

I already own a Glock 23C 40 Caliber. Not a big fan of Glocks now that I have purchased the 23C. I've considered Derringers but I don't really want something that small, even though my Father (State Cop) is a firm believer in the Derringer 22 Magnums.

I like the .40 Caliber, but I also have taken note a 9MM comes in smaller handguns and would do a fine job in stopping a criminal.

So I've pretty much made up my mind with the 9MM Kahr PM 9093.

Just wanted to hear other peoples suggestions, and what they prefer.

MY grandfather has an antique Derringer gun and I have the serial number for it but I cant find any information on it. Does anyone know where I can find information???

im the one looking for the (leinad derringer). i just wanted to thank everyone for the help. im new to computers and have a lot to learn.some good answers sorry i did not choose one.american derringers are great. i have in (357). and later on i plan to buy a (m1 45-70/45long colt).one very mean pistol but i know i will find one sooner or later on the auctions. no need to respond unless you find. thank very much.

when i made a list like this i had 66 bands on there
i don't think i got them all
i generally hate everything after 1993
i was also born in 1993
some bands you might have never heard of before

I'm looking to make something, probably has to be custom made ive never seen a production thing like it, that would hold a .22 Jennings pistol about half way up my wrist, and then pop it out into my hand when i press a button. An example of this would be like in the movie taxi driver, or in wild wild west. the one guy has the little derringer in his shirt and it pops out on accident. something like taht, any input would be appreciated like what kind of springs or something like that.

Thank you, . Categorize the question...no place to Categorize

I think it was a type of derringer, but the handle was rectangular and I can't find anything like it.
